As part of the CSAP, data for all injury collisions in Calaveras County were collected from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2024. This data was then analyzed to identify collision patterns and trends and determine contributing factors.
The collision analysis conducted indicates that a total of 356 injury collisions occurred on County-maintained roads during that time period. Out of those, 96 (21 percent) were considered killed and severe injury collisions (KSI collisions), with 164 resulting in visible injuries and 96 complaining of pain. Saturday and Sunday were the two days where collisions occurred more frequently, with 2 pm-5 pm being the timeframe when collisions occurred more often. The majority of both KSI and injury collisions occurred along County roadways.
In addition, out of those 356 injury collisions, 69 involved motorcycles, with nine fatal, 28 resulting in severe injuries, 25 visible injuries, and eight complaints of pain.
This data analysis, along with feedback from the community, will help prioritize safety concerns for high-risk locations and support data-driven decision-making regarding the selection of appropriate countermeasures.
